Commemoration Event Dedicated to the 106th Anniversary of the Armenian Genocide in Kyiv

24 April, 2021

A commemoration event dedicated to the 106th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide was held in one of the central parks of Kyiv, near the Armenian Khachkar. The cross-stone is dedicated to the memory of innocent victims of the Armenian and Ukrainian people.

Regardless the COVID-19 caused restrictions, the event was attended by a number of foreign Ambassadors and diplomats.

The ceremony started with the prayer and address of the spiritual leader of the Armenian community of Ukraine Bishop Markos Hovhannisyan.

The Armenian Ambassador to Ukraine Tigran Seiranian, who was the next to address the audience, along other statements, drew clear parallels between the Armenian Genocide of 1915 and the brutal and aggressive war against Artsakh, enforced by Azerbaijan and Turkey, with the help of international terrorists in 2020.

Ambassador Seiranian expressed his confidence that with joint efforts it will be possible not only to face new challenges, but to recover and take the path of developing and prospering.

The commemoration ceremony was attended also by the leaders of the Union of Armenians of Ukraine, the President of the Armenian community of Kyiv, the staff of the Armenian Embassy in Kyiv, members of the Armenian community of Kyiv and Ukrainian friends, who paid tribute and laid flowers at the Armenian Khachkar.

Representatives of the Armenian community of Kyiv also lit candles and brought flowers to the Armenian Embassy to Ukraine.
